In Leadership in the Age of Standards and High Stakes, renowned educator Dr. Richard P. DuFour presents the foundation and four pillars of successful schools. The foundation of successful schools is a series of positive assumptions that both teachers and administrators must believe. The four pillars are mission, vision, values, and goals. The foundation and the four pillars are explained carefully, both with commentary from Dr. DuFour and real classroom examples.
After learning the core elements of successful schools, training participants will learn to actually implement these elements into their own schools. The Pyramid of Intervention, effectively utilized at Adlai Stevenson High School under the direction of Dr. DuFour, is explored in detail, helping participants understand one powerful approach in the battle of ensuring that no student is lost or left behind. Other school systems, both secondary and elementary, present their programs in order to give participants a wide variety of exposure to programs that have successfully increased student achievement in every school demographic. After completing our program, Leadership in the Age of Standards and High Stakes, teachers and administrators will feel empowered and motivated to implement strategies and programs for lasting school improvement and student achievement.
