Cindy Strickland is a national consultant specializing in differentiation and gifted education with over twenty years of experience. Ms. Strickland has taught music, French, humanities, and gifted education to every age group from elementary through college. She has been involved in developing curriculum for gifted students and recently won a national award for a middle school unit about Dabrowski's Theory of Overexciteabilities. As a research assistant to Carol Ann Tomlinson, president of the National Association for Gifted Children, Ms. Strickland has been involved in the writing of several publications, including Differentiation in Practice: A Resource Guide for Differentiating Curriculum, Grades 9-12 and The Parallel Curriculum in the Classroom. Her work in differentiation and gifted programs has earned her the University of Virginia's Curry School Scholarship and the Caryl McNees Award. Ms. Strickland is an adjunct faculty member for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at the University of Virginia. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in gifted education at the University of Virginia.
