Dr. Andy Hargreaves specializes in leadership, professional learning communities, and educational change. As the Thomas More Brennan Chair in Education at the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, Dr. Hargreaves strives to promote social justice and connect theory and practice in education.

Dr. Hargreaves spent his childhood in England and studied sociology at Sheffield University. He taught primary school before earning his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Leeds. He has lectured at a number of universities in England, including the University of Nottingham and Oxford. Dr. Hargreaves co-founded The International Center of Educational Change at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in Canada.

A prominent writer, Dr. Hargreaves has written or edited more than 25 books, many which have been translated into a dozen languages.
