Job-Embedded Professional Development for Teachers Can Be Accessed Anytime, Anywhere
SALT LAKE CITY — March 6, 2012 —In order to supply educators with more of the resources that they need to empower students to achieve, professional development producer School Improvement Network (SINET) will spend the entire month of March posting free, job-embedded professional development for teachers online. The company will host everything from a free webinar about the Common Core Standards, to instructional videos, and hands-on classroom strategy blog posts.
“Over the years, things have gotten harder for educators,” says Chet Linton, president of SINET. “Classroom sizes have ballooned, while resources have diminished, and teachers have less and less time on their hands. By providing job-embedded professional development for teachers—PD that they can do at home, on a bus, or in the teachers’ lounge—we open up their day and give them room to breathe, all while helping them reach their full professional potential.”
Jared Heath, SINET’s content strategy manager, explains the purposes of providing free, job-embedded professional development for teachers.
“As we post resources online, we’ll actually be accomplishing two things,” he says. “First, we’ll be placing free, job embedded-professional development for teachers in the hands of those who need it. Second, we’ll be conducting a month-long discussion about job-embedded professional development for teachers—its features and its benefits; its importance in personal development, PLCs, instructional strategy, and leadership.”
